Zombies attack freaked-out humans in this trailer for the upcoming season of The Walking Dead. Hero Rick Grimes (played by Andrew Lincoln) gets a little help from Andrea (Laurie Holden) as they ward off yet another horde of Georgia zombies.
While not as gory as the head-bashing squish-fest unveiled in July at Comic-Con International, the new clip indicates that *The Walking Dead'*s living dead can be expected to lumber bloodily through 13 more episodes of character-driven horror.
In a "Dispatches From the Set" blog posting, director Michelle MacLaren said she's playing up the rural Georgia locale for all it's worth this season. "You've got the stark contrast between beauty and post-apocalyptic zombies and death," she said.
The series continues to rely on Greg Nicotero's grotesque special effects for its most shocking momements. "I always judge the [special effects'] effectiveness by the 'ew' factor," MacLaren said. "I know it's not real, but if I'm grossed out, that's awesome."
Walking Dead airs its Season 2 premiere on Oct. 16 at 9 p.m./8 p.m. Central on AMC.
