__Title: Star Trekkin'
__Artist: The Firm

This little gem was released as a single in the UK back in 1987 and spent two weeks at number one on the charts, saying rather more about the record buying public in the UK than the people behind it ever could have guessed.

__Title: They're Taking the Hobbits to Isengard
Artist: Erwin "Tron" Beekveld __

This video went viral back in 2005 when it was uploaded to Albino Black Sheep and has since spawned countless parodies of it's own including Lego, WoW and Kingdom Hearts versions. The video for the original here is one of the best edited I have seen in the comedy song genre.

Title: The Saga Begins
__ Artist: Weird Al Yankovic__

Well we couldn't possible have a post about comedy songs without including the most famous comedy artist of them all could we? Yankovic originally wrote this song (which in case you haven't hard it, recounts the story of The Phantom Menace) before seeing the film, gathering the information from internet spoilers, and barely changed anything after seeing the film. Both Don McLean (whose song American Pie is the basis for this parody) and George Lucas (via Lucasfilm) have said how much they enjoy the song.

Title: The Scully Song
__ Artist: Eric D Sneider__

This song was written in response to the novelty song "David Duchovny" by Bree Sharp but focuses on Agent Scully herself rather than Gillian Anderson. There is no "official" video but this fan made creation works pretty well.

Title: Doctorin' The TARDIS
Artist: The Timelords (AKA The KLF)

This song is another from the worrying realms of 80's UK singles, and yes this one made it to number one as well. If you haven't dared watch any of these videos yet, this one is totally worth your time if only for the hilarious "Dalek" that appears to be made from whatever the band could find in the local junkyard - at several moments you can clearly see someone's feet walking it along. There's also a police car for no obvious reason that looks like someone stole it from the Blues Brother's prop department.

Title: I've Got a Jar of Dirt Remix
Artist: NeonHurricane

The origin of some of these songs defies explanation, not so this one which was pretty much inevitable from the moment we first saw the original clip from which it is made in Pirates of The Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest. It does however take the award for possible the most irritating song on the list which is quite an accomplishment when you consider the competition.

Title: The Ballad of Bilbo Baggins
Artist: Leonard Nimoy

Remember what I was just saying about how some songs defy explanation, this is possible the pinnacle of that. If anyone tried to explain this video to you without you having seen it, you would almost certainly be calling the men in white coats; a collection of girls in garishly coloured sweaters hopping about like bunnys whilst Leonard Nimoy (yes THAT Leonard Nimoy) sings a song about Hobbits. I think I need to have a lie down now...
