Remember back when the brick Game Boy didn't have a backlight, so you had to carry around all sorts of unwieldy plastic contraptions attached to it?
Looks like Nintendo's going to bring out an attachment for the 3DS that adds a second analog stick. According to what looks very much like a page from the latest Famitsu magazine (we're not going to copy it, but it's available at Kotaku among other places), the device will snap onto the back of the 3DS, adding considerable bulk to the portable game system but giving players more control options for their gaming.
Why? Well, because apparently a version of the super-popular Monster Hunter 3 will be coming to the beleaguered portable in due time, states the article. Nintendo is likely to make a formal announcement at its Tokyo press event on Tuesday, September 13 and the game may be shown at Capcom's booth at Tokyo Game Show the following weekend.
Now the question is, will this be a one-off add-on controller just for Monster Hunter players, or will Nintendo add a second stick to the inevitable redesigned version of 3DS?
