Anime-styled role-playing game Ni no Kuni, co-developed by gamemaker Level-5 (Dragon Quest IX) and Japanese animation house Studio Ghibli (My Neighbor Totoro, Princess Mononoke), will make an appearance in North America next year, according to a report.

GameSpot Asia says that Level-5 president Akihiro Hino made the announcement during an interview panel at the Tokyo Game Show Friday. Hino reportedly said that an English version of the PlayStation 3 game is in the works and will receive a North American release in early 2012.

The PlayStation 3 version of Ni no Kuni is a new retelling of the stylish RPG, which was originally released for DS in Japan on December 9, 2010. This will be the first American version of the game.
