I've seen more than my share of student films and frankly, I'd be OK if I never had to see another one. This is different though. No hackneyed plot, no forced dialogue, just a two minute clip reel filled with some truly awesome special effects. Remind me again, who said video games couldn't be art?
It's not a huge surprise to see that most of the students animated some truly geeky scenes, since most of their work in the real world will be helping to churn out the action, sci-fi and fantasy media we love. The school they attend, Gnomon School of Visual Effects, was founded by Avatar creature designer Alex Alvarez, so the geek cred obviously runs deep.
