Do you know who Colleen Wainwright is? I didn't know who she was until a friend of mine shared something really awesome that she is doing. This really, super, amazing awesometastic thing is to help her celebrate her 50th birthday on September 13. But for this really touching and heartwarming thing to happen, this thing that is AWESOME, she needs some of your money.
I know, you may be thinking what I was thinking when I first saw the post about this thing, "Another fundraiser? How many of these are going to be brought to my attention on a daily basis?" But because I trust the person who posted the link, I clicked on it. After reading the first paragraph of the fundraiser and watching the accompanying video, I was beyond touched.
You see, Colleen is a writer. As I already mentioned, she is soon to be 50. For her birthday, she wants to raise $50,000 for a LA based nonprofit called 'WriteGirl'. This nonprofit helps teen girls who want to be writers. Why? Part of the fundraising page explains:
I wish I had something like this when I was a teen.
If she reaches her goal, not only will she be helping the next generation of female writers, but she will shave her head! I'll let Colleen tell you more.
