If you happen to know the names Claire Evans and Jona Bechtolt, it's probably for one of two reasons: You know them as the whiz kids who made a MacBook Air case that looked like a manila envelope or as the whiz kids who formed the indie pop band Yacht.

Now Evans and Bechtolt, who were inspired to create their first Mac case after Steve Jobs pulled a MacBook Air out of a manila envelope during a 2008 Macworld keynote, are back with a case for the Apple's upgraded tablet: the AirMail sleeve for iPad 2.

The pair started making Mac packaging out of a desire to create products they wished already existed, Evans said in an e-mail to Wired.com. But there were other motivations as well.

"Steve Jobs is a personal hero of ours, and his approach to bettering the world through proactive involvement with design has always been an influence on Yacht," Evans said. "In a way, making this a little design business is a manifestation of the philosophy of extreme self-empowerment that we try to disseminate through Yacht's music."

The sleeves look pretty similar to actual air-mail envelopes -- so much so that there seems to be a worry the gear pouches might lead to users accidentally dropping their iPads into mailboxes. Evans and Bechtolt are currently on tour as Yacht in support of their album Shangri-La. Their company, Manila Mac, is currently selling the AirMail sleeve for iPad 2 for $29.
