We make no bones about loving the Mercedes-Benz AMG SLS. We've driven it, and few cars so beautifully blend luxury and performance in a package so engaging and rewarding.

It's a fantastic car, but the folks at Mercedes-Benz thought it needed something a little more. Or less, actually. So they decided to lop the top, even if it meant losing those gloriously grandiose gullwing doors. The result is the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Roadster.

It was developed with help from former Formula 1 driver David Coulthard, a man who knows a thing or two about getting the most out of a car. Well, Jay Leno, being Jay Leno, was invited to be the first person outside the Mercedes family to drive the car.

Coulthard gave him some pointers, over the phone, while Leno was driving at 50 degrees on a banked track in Germany. That's all well and good, but this is really just an excuse to run some photos of the SLS Roadster. So hot. Enjoy.
