The great “What is a nerd?” debate might be tired, but this video makes the whole argument worthwhile just by having a really great kicker.
After laying out in pretty convincing detail the ways in which religious people are, in fact, nerds, it ends with the most convincing piece of evidence. (We’ll let you watch to find out what that is — zing!)
Beyond that, CollegeHumor’s Religious People Are Nerds video makes some fairly valid points about how religious fanatics and, say, Firefly fanatics aren’t that different: Both groups quote their respective texts with precision, both look to dudes with beards for official teachings, and both gather weekly to commiserate over their respective passions.
But, as most observers understand, traditional nerds stick to flame wars to get their points across while religious nerds have from time to time gotten into actual wars for their beliefs, leading this video to conclude that maybe some should put down the scripture and find Serenity.
