The guy behind one of the fastest EVs around is joining the TTXGP electric motorcycle grand prix in a bid to claim the outright motorcycle land speed record.

[partner id="hellforleather"]Not the land speed record for electric motorcycles, which stands at 216 mph. The land speed record for motorcycles, period. That means topping 367 mph. Don't laugh. Killacycle, the team behind this effort, already has an electric motorcycle that can do zero to 60 in less than 1 second and a quarter-mile run with an exit speed north of 155 mph.

The best news about this, though? The same powertrain Killacycle is developing for the land speed record attempt will be available to TTXGP competitors next season. That means we’re about to see some seriously fast electric race bikes.

The land speed record attempt comes as the TTXGP and Mavizen, its technology supplier, bring Killacycle’s Bill Dube and Eva Håkansson aboard to foster a stronger, fuller, more competitive field of entries. Dube has been named chief technology officer of Mavizen.

This means Mavizen will tap the Killacycle team's experience and knowledge to develop powerful electric powertrains, then sell them to teams looking to enter the TTXGP electric racing series.

“Being an early pioneer is never easy, but I feel with Mavizen we have the opportunity to really help companies who want to be at the cutting edge of EV technology,” Dube said. “Eva and I can design and build practically anything electric-powered, and with Mavizen we have a credible outlet to bring the best and safest products to the market. I have learned a lot about battery technology and electric power trains over many years; constantly pushing technology to the limits, and am really looking forward to using this experience to help motorsport teams across the globe.”

But first, the two of them plan to set the motorcycle speed record at the FIM/AMA BUB Speed Trials at the Bonneville Salt Flats from Aug. 26 through Sept. 1. They’ll be racing Killajoule, the streamliner shown above. Chip Yates plans to make a run for the record at the same event, so it should be an interesting week.
