Nintendo will release its first 3-D Pokémon game this fall, it said Tuesday. Pokémon Rumble Blast, the sequel to the 2009 downloadable Wii game Pokémon Rumble, will hit Nintendo 3DS on October 24.
It is not a sequel to the blockbuster Pokémon role-playing games. Rather, Rumble Blast players control on-screen wind-up "Toy Pokémon" to battle other, less friendly automatons in real-time combat. Nintendo says the game will feature over 600 of the little critters, though you can only collect some of them.
Pokémon Rumble Blast will also support the 3DS system's popular StreetPass feature, allowing players to fight one another in automatic Pokémon battles should their 3DS systems pass by each other.
