BBC Worldwide has announced plans to start renting out TV episodes on Facebook, in exchange for the social network's credit currency.
The broadcasting giant's commercial arm will start with everyone's favorite time-traveling physician. Head over to the Doctor Who page starting Wednesday and you'll find nine stories, each containing several episodes, to stream.
Those include digitally remastered versions of classic Doctor Who episodes like "Tomb of the Cybermen" and modern-day favorites like "Silence in the Library" and "End of the World." There's even a Facebook exclusive – 1988's "The Greatest Show in the Galaxy," which isn't on DVD.
The episodes will be available for Facebook members in Europe, the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, and once you've rented some episodes they'll be available to view for 48 hours. The BBC hasn't yet revealed the prices.

"We see this service as a perfect way to give our fans what they want, as well as a great way for them to get their fix between now and the autumn, when Series 6 continues."
Warner Bros. was one of the first publishers to bring video streaming to the social network. For 30 a href="http://www.wired.co.uk/news/archive/2011-01/25/facebook-credits">Facebook credits (or about $3), viewers can rent The Dark Knight for 48 hours. Since then, the studio has added Inception, two Harry Potter flicks, Life as We Know It and Yogi Bear.
