Clunky Double Dragon II Remake Barely Recognizable

2011 isn't over yet, but I'm pretty sure that Double Dragon II: Wander of the Dragons will win this year's award for Worst Trailer.

Wander of the Dragons, to be released on Xbox Live Arcade this September according to a report on Co-Optimus, is a remake of the classic side-scrolling beat-'em-up Double Dragon II: The Revenge. But rather than a straight graphical update with some new features, Wander of the Dragons would seem to be a completely different game. The remake adds new levels and new mechanics, like a combo system that goes beyond the punch-punch-kicks of old.

So basically it is in no way similar to Double Dragon II. The game's trailer doesn't exactly inspire confidence, either. It's not so much a trailer as it as a poorly edited mismash of unrelated gameplay sequences. At several points, the game appears to pause for half a second before it abruptly transitions to a completely new segment.

Personally, my favorite part of the trailer was when the game froze in the middle of combat.

Chris says: What on earth is this? I'd be cautiously interested in this game if it was pitched as an all-new Double Dragon, which is exactly what it looks like. But beginning a trailer with "You can play Double Dragon II on Xbox360 [sic] Live Arcade now!!" and then showing a game that has nothing to do with that beloved classic makes no sense.
