Serbian architect Ivan Filipovic has designed a floating hotel with cabins that undock and sail away.

[partner id="wireduk"]The concept, which Filipovic describes as a "botel," consists of a central mobile base with 22 cabins. The base can anchor in a safe bay — the concept was designed with the Adriatic Sea in mind — while individual cabins explore the bay at their leisure. The hotel features a lobby, reception area, bar and restaurant surrounded by a covered outer deck and terrace, which has a swimming pool, nightclub and dance floor.

Each cabin features photovoltaic panels, and of course they use electric motors to get around. Cabins also can be controlled remotely ("Come in, number 24. Your time is up."), and each has a GPS unit so it can be tracked. A simple command brings the craft safely to the mothership. The cabins also could dock with extra external pontoons, like a helipad or a tennis court.

"The concept for this project revolves around the Adriatic Sea with its thousands of islands, bays and coves, inaccessible lots and the protected natural beauty," ArchDaily reports. "Filipovic sees the ideas stemming from navigating architecture as the best response to this idyllic setting."

It's still a concept, and a pretty outlandish one at that, so you won't see "botels" just yet.
