It’s June again and that can only mean one thing, wedding season is once again upon us. Perhaps some of your geek friends are tying the knot this summer and, if so, you will be faced with the dilemma faced by all wedding guests – what to buy the happy couple for their wedding gift? These days many couples have a gift list set up at a department store, but if your friends haven’t gone the conventional route, or if you just fancy buying them something a bit more unique, then what about some of these wonderful gifts?
Toaster
Of course the traditional wedding gift is a toaster, but why be so predictable? When it’s a Battlestar Galactica Cylon Toaster as seen in the Big Bang Theory. These were especially made for San Diego Comic-Con 1998 and re-released for 1999, they are now unavailable to purchase new but who knows, you may just get lucky on eBay. If not there are a whole range of unusual toasters out there that can burn just about any design you can imagine into your breakfast, from Hello Kitty to the retro looking toaster available at Pop Art Toaster which comes with interchangeable plates, allowing you to choose which design takes your fancy each morning.
Towel Set
Another wedding gift staple is the towel set, often seen with a cute matching “Mr and Mrs” motif to really cement the couple’s new-found relationship status. If your friends aren’t really the cutesy type though, then what about a nice “Don’t Panic” towel courtesy of those Hoopy Froods over at Think Geek? Emblazoned with the infamous words in nice, friendly red letters, this is really the most useful gift you could possibly give your newly hitched compadres. Elsewhere on the internet, Royal Plus do a lovely “Don’t Panic” beach towel, perfect for honeymoons. However if your friends would really like a matching set, Think Geek again comes up trumps with its matching set of His’n'Hers chromosome towels. These also has the added benefit that the towels are actually sold separately, allowing you to mix and match and making them a great gift for geeky gay and lesbian weddings.

Bedding Set__
Once the preserve of children’s rooms alone, the themed duvet cover has recently taken the plunge into the realm of the adult double bed. Why not treat your friends to a new bedspread featuring their favourite characters such as Doctor Who, Star Wars or evenTwilight? Howeveer, as the bedroom is often the preserve of femininity within even the geekiest house, you may wish to consult with the bride-to-be before choosing this option and possibly settle with a cuddly toy, what about a nice Alien Chestburster or any one of countless plush microbes?
__Glassware
__Most people who marry receive some form of glassware amongst their gifts, often a pair of champagne flutes or a set of wine glasses to compliment a new dinner service. However this set of Starfleet Rocks Glasses are far more likely to become a talking point. Featuring the symbols of Command, Engineering, Medical / Sciences and Star Fleet Command, they are sandblasted designs and can even be personalised.

Dinnerware
__Of course if you’re giving Star Trek themed glasses as a gift, the standard dinner set from Ikea just isn’t going to cut the mustard. How about one of these tasty looking zombie themed plates then? Totally dishwasher safe and non-toxic, they’d be perfect for worrying the in-laws whenever they next came to stay.
There are thousands of other great geek housewares out there, from Enterprise shaped pizza cutters to lightsaber chopsticks but what would you most like in place of a more traditional wedding gift?
