Harry Potter author JK Rowling has launched a mysterious new website, Pottermore.com, which has caused fans to go wild with excitement.

[partner id="wireduk"]Pottermore.com is currently just a holding page featuring the word "Pottermore," guarded by a pair of owls and set against a pink background, with the promise of more "coming soon."

Fans found the website after they were given a "Secret Street View" challenge, which seeded coordinates to 10 different Potter fansites, each of which revealed a single letter. These collectively spelled out "Pottermore."

So far there is no more information about the site, but some have speculated that it is a Potter encyclopedia that Rowling has alluded to in the past.

Others have suggested it could be an MMO.

There is a YouTube video with a countdown to midday next Thursday, when Rowling will make an announcement. There is also a Twitter account @pottermore, which at the time of writing had more than 35,000 followers already.
