The successor to the Wii will feature a 6-inch touchscreen in its controller, which can be used as a separate portable game system, the Nikkei newspaper reported Friday.

Nintendo will reveal the new machine at the E3 Expo on Tuesday morning. The Nikkei report confirms rumors that have been circulating about the game platform for the last few months.

The controller is also said to feature a built-in battery and a camera. The touchscreen will be used as a tablet-style controller for games on the television.

Nikkei reports that Nintendo plans to release the new hardware in the middle of 2012.
