Okay, so no Bothans (or any other creatures) actually died to bring you this posting; however, the latest line of Muppet figurines are just about cute enough to die for. What makes this series so different from all the others we've seen over the years? Well, imagine Kermit as Luke Skywalker, Piggy as Leia, Gonzo as Darth Vader, and more. Now are you sensing the tremors in The Force?

According to the Disney Parks blog, these special edition figurines will be available this fall at Disneyland and Disney World resorts. Additionally, they'll be on display at the Star Wars Weekends at Disney's Hollywood Studios this weekend, June 3-5.

I have almost as many fond childhood memories of the Muppet Show as I do of Star Wars, so seeing the two combined like this absolutely delights my inner 12-year-old. I'm particularly eager to see Fozzie Bear as Chewbacca and Gonzo as Darth Vader.

Oh – and this seems a perfectly appropriate time to point out that there was a Star Wars-themed episode of The Muppet Show back in 1980. If you look around on YouTube, you can find snippets of the show, though I'd recommend ponying up for the DVD boxed sets.
