Unless you've been away from the Internet (or any kind of media), you've likely heard about Sarah Palin's historical faux pas last week. Here's what she said about Paul Revere on the day she visited the Old North Church:

"He who warned the British that they weren't going to be taking away our arms, by ringing those bells, and making sure as he's riding his horse through town to send those warning shots and bells that we were going to be secure and we were going to be free."

A firestorm on Twitter and Facebook ensued as news outlets around the country made this their top story. Sure, it's embarrassing, but I can't help but wonder... ____

Why does the whole nation jump on Palin because she doesn't know her history, yet ignore--or celebrate--the politicians who regularly reject science?
