DC Comics will release Flashpoint: Emperor Aquaman #1 on June 8, but Wired.com brings you an exclusive sneak peek to "wet" your whistle and help "tide" you over. GeekDad has teamed with Underwire, another of Wired's entertainment blogs, to "hook" you up with the first four pages.

Okay, now that I have all of those fishy puns out of my system, let's have the first couple of pages.

Just look at that beautiful Ardian Syaf art. And that's an Aquaman you just don't want on your bad side, either. Emperor Aquaman appears to be a very dark and determined character. While he's been written this way in the past, only time will tell if these traits will hold over into the post Flashpoint relaunch of the DC universe.

We know that superstar writer Geoff Johns will be penning the sea king in the not too distant future, but for now, it's the highly talented Tony Bedard's story. In an interview over at Comic Book Resources, Friday, Bedard dropped a couple tidbits as to what to expect from the story.

* Flashpoint: Emperor Aquaman depicts the Atlantean/Amazonian war from Aquaman's perspective.

* Its counterpart Flashpoint: Wonder Woman and the Furies will cover it from the opposite angle.

* The book will show the past/origin of this "new" Aquaman, as well as the events leading up to, and including, the sinking of part of Europe.

* Aquaman was separated from his father at an earlier age than that of the regular DCU, and thus missed out on that extra bit of humanity and guidance.

* It will, indeed, feature Mera who has gained in popularity thanks to her starring roles in the recent Blackest Night and Brightest Day storylines.

All right, that's it for GeekDad's side of the preview, please, click on through to Underwire for the remaining pages.
