In my coverage of Universal's Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, I mentioned that after riding the groundbreaking attraction, the previously gee-whiz Spider-Man ride seemed tame by comparison.

Apparently, I wasn't the only one who thought so.

Universal just announced plans to upgrade The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man to 4K digital high definition, with Infitec 3-D projection systems that park officials say will make the experience "sharper, clearer and more 'real' than ever before."

It will open in 2012, along with a new attraction based on the film “Despicable Me,” which will replace the park's imaginative but barf-inducing Jimmy Neutron ride.
