In the clip, Lost star Evangeline Lilly provides the exposition: Charlie Kenton (played by Jackman) used to be an almost-champion boxer until those darn robots took over the sport. Charlie orchestrates a comeback with the help of his estranged son (Dakota Goyo) and a blue-eyed robot named Adam. Discovered as a “baby,” Adam is programmed to only be a sparring partner, but Jackman and son train the machine to become a contender just in time for the big fight.
Directed by Shawn Levy (Night at the Museum), Real Steel opens Oct. 7.
