It's not all that surprising that comedienne Kristen Schaal brings the funny on The Daily Show and Flight of the Concords, when she's surrounded by other gifted comedians who give her something to work with. But the fact that she can be just as hilarious standing in a white room holding a smartphone? That's borderline genius.

Schaal has made a series of commercials for Sony Ericsson's new PlayStation smartphone thingymabob the Xperia Play. The clip above shows that some of her funnier moments actually ended up not making it into those spots.

The commercials themselves were created using a mix of scripted and improvised bits, but everything in this blooper reel is just Schaal riffing on the fly. (To be fair, Schaal did have some help. The videos were directed by Jonathan Krisel, who knows a thing or two about comedy from his work as a director on Portlandia and Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!.)

Schaal was most recently in the news for getting a chalkboard apology from The Simpsons creators for misspelling her name. The comedienne is currently the voice of Louise on Fox animated series Bob's Burgers, which aired its season finale last Sunday.

The phone Schaal is pitching in the videos will be released Thursday through Verizon Wireless.
