Pandora, my favorite method of discovering new music since I became too old for the radio, just made my day.

Using the same concept Pandora applies to deciphering what artists you will like based on a song, album or band you already enjoy, the Comedy Genome Project will hook you up with stand-up performers based on a comedian or genre you love. You can even create a PG station to enjoy with the kids. The comedy function is integrated into Pandora's existing music search, so instead of entering, say, They Might Be Giants, I typed "Seinfeld." (Not that creative, but I wanted to start with an easy one.) Up pops a station based on Seinfeld's characteristics, as delineated by Pandora: "amused delivery, subject explorations, body image jokes, satirical observations, jokes intended for a family audience, and 90s era comedy." It included Bill Cosby (OK, not a new discovery), then Sean Cullen, who, according to Pandora, has similarities to Weird Al (Yes! Bring it on!) and manages to make post-disaster looting hysterical. After that was Bob Newhart, which I was inclined to skip but was much funnier than Larry, Darryl and Darryl.

Check out more info about the Comedy Genome Project or test it out for yourself -- how does it work for you? Did you discover any great new performers?
