My son just spent over an hour watching all of the Pixar short films. He loves the full-length movies, too, of course. Honestly, I think if Pixar came out with a movie about a wall, and only a wall, he would wear out the DVD with pleasure. To be fair, though, if anyone could pull it off, it would be the folks at Pixar.
He is also at that wonderful age where he cannot get enough of looking over my shoulder as I read my monthly comics. Unfortunately, as I have grown up, so have my comics. In other words, the mainstream superhero titles of today are not suitable for his little eyes. Don't get me wrong, though, I know there are more and more quality kids' comics being put out right now than ever before.
They can really add up, though.
So, not wanting to make the kiddo do without comics, as I believe that would get my GeekDad license revoked, I began my search for a cost-saving alternative. What I found was something that blew me away.
Discount Comic Book Service is having a tremendous sale on Boom Studio's Pixar and Muppets Titles. For a limited time, you can pick up 35 Pixar/Muppets books at 63 percent off cover price. That slashes the price of a regularly marked $9.99 book down to $3.69!
Why 63 percent? No clue. What I do know is that I just couldn't pass up that savings.
Pixar books available include all of your favorites from Cars, Finding Nemo, Incredibles, Monsters, Inc., Toy Story and Wall-E.
Muppet collections tell a Muppet-ized version of stories, such as Peter Pan, Robin Hood, Sherlock Holmes, Snow White and Treasure of Peg Leg Pete.
Now, note that neither I, nor GeekDad, Wired.com, nor anyone associated with those listed, is receiving anything to bring this sale to you. The incentive comes from knowing I'm helping out other parents who are riding in the same boat I am. I just snagged fifteen trade paperbacks for myself my son, and I feel like it's one of the best deals I've ever made.
I now have a stack of books to last through the holidays and his birthday. Plus, they'll make great bribes. Heh.
If only I could score some Johnny DC titles, I would be all set.
Take care, my fellow frugal fathers.
