If you happen to be in New York City and interested in finding a unique way to meet people, you might want to considerRavenous Nights, which takes place on the first Friday of each month on the lower east side of New York City.
Especially as they are planning a geek night.
Ravenous Nights was started by an e-book publisher, Ravenous Romance, and is hosted by its editorial director, Lori Perkins. Each night, erotica and erotica romance of any and all heat levels are read out loud by their authors. Each event spotlights a certain theme. While you'd expect themes like May's upcoming Burlesque Night, geeks are not being left out. There is a Geek Love night is already in the planning.
"What's not to love about geeks?" asks Perkins. "They rule. You never know which D&D- or WoW-obsessed geek will become tomorrow's tech innovators."
Over time, genre nights are equally likely. "Genre fiction is rife with erotic romance content," says Perkins. "Paranormal, SF/F, urban fantasy, horror - doesn't matter. Where there's love and romance, there's desire and arousal."
A vampire-themed night is also in the works. "The lure of the vampire is irresistible," Perkins said. "Like the vampire itself, it never grows old!"
Ravenous Nights happens at the Happy Ending Lounge, 302 Broome Street, already a literary reading series haunt, every first Friday from 8 to 10 p.m.
