Android powered phones are becoming more and more prevalent. Because of this you'll find a plethora of free and cheap apps for your smart phone.
I haven't had my smart phone for very long, though I have been wanting one for years. What finally pushed my husband and I to getting smart phones was when our modem died suddenly. We were told our internet provider would send a new modem, but that it would take a week.
After about a day without the internet, we went into withdrawal and found ourselves at T-Mobile. We, of course, said we were just looking but of course we walked out with two shiny, new smart phones. I got the Motorola Defy, and I love it!
One of the first things I started to do was to look for apps. I'm still on the lookout for some good ones, but I do have some favorites already.
Game Dev Story - This is a fun, little sim game where you are the CEO of a Video Game Company. You try and make the best games that you can, while moving your way through the history of gaming. It's fun and addicting. You can download the free version which lets you play a few years, or you can buy the full version for a couple of dollars and play indefinitely.
Words with Friends - This game is an online version of Scrabble. It's a lot of fun, and you can play with your friends or just find complete strangers to play with. I do find that the version I have on my phone tends to be buggy, freezing a lot while I'm trying to play. I do really enjoy this app though.
Foursquare - This is an app where you check in wherever you go. If you go to a place on a regular basis, you become the Mayor of that place. Some business also give you discounts or coupons if you check in a certain amount of times at their business. This is a very quirky app but it's fun!
Kindle - I love the Kindle app because I don't really have the money to have an eReader and a smart phone. Plus there are a ton of free and cheap books out there that I can put in my phone. That way I always have books that I can read no matter where I go and they take up no physical space!
My Days - This free app is a period and ovulation tracker. It's a really great app if you are trying for a baby or if you really, really want to avoid pregnancy! It's very simple and easy to use.
These are just my top five favorites! There are hundreds of great apps available out there for Android powered phones!
