It started with hologram goggles to direct drone strikes and made time for the wack verses of terrorists. Wound its way to mapping the neuurobiology of narrative and pursued insurgents through the confusion of eastern Afghanistan to find someone named Jamal, who may not exist. It offered cash prizes from the Air Force for distinguishing kids from adults at long distances and contemplated creating a Frankenstein monster out of a sensor suite an an Android phone. It watched blimps collide, Libyan cellphone networks get hacked and the Navy dream of landing a drone on an aircraft carrier with a mouse click. It blinded you with a StunRay. It watched video of tanks blowing up.
It was the week that's ending now. And as bizarre as it was, we can't say we'll miss it, because it also bore witness to what could be the first friendly fire incident from a drone strike. If only we had the hologram goggles earlier.
