Horror maestro Wes Craven is the latest filmmaker to be honored by Mondo, with new posters for A Nightmare on Elm Street and Scream marking his debut in the Texas movie boutique's Director's Series.
Artist Alex Pardee riffs on Craven's most well-known characters -- Freddy Krueger and Ghostface -- in the first two collectible posters in the series. Future Craven posters will include Swamp Thing, The Hills Have Eyes and The Last House on the Left.
"I think the posters brim with wild imagination and sly humor," Craven said in a press release.
Justin Ishmael, Mondo's creative director, said the filmmaker's enduring place in the horror-flick pantheon made him perfect for the Director's Series, which previously saluted Duncan Jones, Zack Snyder and Guillermo Del Toro.
“Answering the phone. Taking a nap. Going to the movies. One man has made each of these seemingly innocent and normal activities terrifying," Ishmael said. "Wes Craven has been traumatizing audiences for years and we are very proud to add this master of horror and suspense to the ever-growing ranks of Mondo Director's Series."
