The first full trailer for director J.J. Abrams' upcoming homage to classic sci-fi movies sketches out a tried-and-true formula for the kind of mythic filmmaking done by Steven Spielberg in E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial and Close Encounters of the Third Kind.

Friday's first-of-its kind Twitter premiere of the Super 8 trailer came about thanks to a partnership between the microblogging site and Paramount Pictures.
"With Twitter, fans are able to foster a real-time conversation in a communal viewing environment and we wanted people everywhere to have the chance to discover the Super 8 trailer here first, " said Amy Powell, Paramount's executive vice president of interactive marketing strategies and film production.
Can't wait to see the movie, but for now this is all we have. Super 8 opens June 10.
