New Yorkers are so lucky. While San Francisco gets some big dumb Game Developers Conference or whatever, we get far more important industry events – like the Pokémon launch party.

The Nintendo World Store in Rockefeller Center will host festivities Saturday to commemorate the launch of Pokémon Black and White, which Nintendo will ship for the DS on March 6. The party, which runs from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., will let fans buy the game a day early, collect a mythical Pokémon named Victini and dress up like their favorite critters while collecting neat Poké-swag.

Grammy-nominated rock band The Presidents of the United States of America, best known for the song "Lump," will also perform at the event. The band will perform a new original song titled "Can’t Stop Catchin’ ’Em All," specifically recorded in honor of Pokémon.

I'll be there. Probably dressed up as Muk.
