If you want to be one of the first to get your three-dimensional paws on Nintendo's brand new handheld, you'll want to be in New York City this weekend.

[bug id="nintendo-3ds"]Nintendo will hold a 3DS launch party at the Best Buy in Manhattan's Union Square this Saturday night at 9 p.m. The party will consist of live demos, food and giveaways, all rendered in glorious 3-D. When the clock strikes midnight, lucky fans will earn the privilege of handing $250 to a clerk at the store in exchange for the Nintendo 3DS.

Just in case you can't make it out to New York City, Nintendo says "several Best Buy stores throughout the country" will also be holding launch events for the handheld. The Nintendo 3DS will be released on Sunday, March 27.

If you're not sure whether you want the system just yet, Nintendo says it will be installing over 6,000 3DS demo kiosks in various retail stores across the United States. Just enter your zip code into Nintendo's official kiosk locator to see if there's one near you.

I'll be covering the event in New York this weekend, so feel free to say hi and/or trade Pokémon. If it's anything like Nintendo's midnight Wii launch event back in 2006, the night will be quite a spectacle.
