A poster honoring Sucker Punch director Zack Snyder has become the latest instant sell-out for Mondo, the boutique arm of the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema. The limited-edition poster and a variant version, part of Mondo's ongoing Director's Series, were snapped up Friday morning by collectors paying $45 and $70 a pop, according to the art boutique's Twitter feed.
“I've never met Zack Snyder before, but I'm sure if I did, we'd become fast pals," said Mondo's creative director, Justin Ishmael, in a press release before the lightning-fast sale commenced. "I mean, the guy obviously has amazing taste. Zombies, comic books, Frank Miller, owls and now girls with guns, zombies, dragons and mech suits?! Yeah, he's my kind of guy."
The Sucker Punch prints by Ken Taylor, which were available in two colors, sold out within minutes of being offered on the same day Snyder's fightin' females fantasia opens. Other artists will take on Synder’s back catalog of films, including Watchmen, 300, Dawn of the Dead and Legend of the Guardians, in future posters in the series.
Previous helmers honored in Mondo's Director's Series include Guillermo Del Toro and Duncan Jones. See the Sucker Punch variant and details about the posters below.
