Electronica artist, composer and musical magician BT is a fan of his fans. Never out of touch with his fan base, and constantly touring and interacting through Twitter, BT never lets us forget that he's extremely grateful for his place in the world, and grateful to his loyal fans for helping him get there. Which is part of the inspiration for the contest surrounding the release of his new video for "Suddenly," the latest video off last year's Grammy-nominated album These Hopeful Machines.

I had the pleasure of talking to BT early last year, and if you cut through his enthusiasm for literally creating music you can find a true passion for art and music. Since our conversation BT has toured incessantly all over the world, he's been nominated for a Grammy and sold his groundbreaking Sonik Architects software to iZotope. Did I fail to mention that he's also a software developer and also a massive GeekDad?

Now fans will have the chance to work with BT, specifically, to direct his next video. That's right. Direct his next video. All you have to do is make your own version of "Suddenly." This is not a simple contest however. BT will make the same green screen tech used in "Suddenly" available for download. You can then add your own visuals and CGI to make the video. Upload to YouTube and enter on BTMusic.com (where you can also get the green screen template). The best videos will be linked from BTMusic.com and fans will vote on the videos. The contest runs from March 21st, 2011 - April 20th, 2011. The winner will be selected and announced on April 26th, 2011, and then be hired to direct BT’s next music video from These Hopeful Machines.

Says BT, "I think this is a truly exciting opportunity to crowd source iterations on an already amazing video directed by Bobby Montero. This is an opportunity for visual artists to flex their abilities and get discovered in the same way remix contests have done for aspiring electronic musical talent."
