Tron's groundbreaking neon visuals are coming to Blu-ray at last.
A Blu-ray release of the 1982 sci-fi film -- which pushed CGI effects forward, turned into a cult hit and spawned last year's sequel, Tron: Legacy -- has been in the works for some time, with conspiracies swirling about the "mysteriously missing" high-def disc.
There's nothing mysterious about the release, though: The movie (unfortunately dubbed Tron: The Original Classic Special Edition) will be packaged with the Blu-ray edition of Tron: Legacy in an $80 five-disc combo pack loaded with extras, including a 3-D version. If you just want the original movie, you'll have two other options: a two-disc Blu-ray/DVD combo pack ($40) or a two-DVD set ($30), both with plenty of bonus content.
If you want to skip the old-school sci-fi and simply spend hours memorizing Jeff Bridges' zen cyberhippie dialog and soaking in Tron: Legacy's sleek visuals, the sequel will be available in multiple packaging options (details below).
