- Jennifer D. has spent the week recovering from a massive snow storm and trying to survive her kiddo being out of school the entire week. She got a fantastic workout shoveling the 3 foot snow drifts in front of her garage.
- Jessamyn is in Las Vegas, compulsively running probability statistics in her head.
- R. L. LaFevers has been very busy this week launching a brand new website for her Nathaniel Fludd, Beastologist series. In addition to lots of fun extra content, the site also has a Reader Art Gallery so budding beastologists can submit their own drawings for display.
- Patricia Vollmer will be running a 15K race this weekend, her first long distance race in nearly 2 years! Also, Patricia had the honor and glory of teaching her 8-year-old son how to look up words in the dictionary for a school assignment. There were tears, and her son declared that he doesn't like writing words, just numbers. Spoken like a true GeekMom spawn.
- Judy Berna's household changed its status on Monday, when her second child turned 18, making her feel much older than she really is. Fortunately there are two more in the house who are still 'children' and appreciate her mothering. She also got to spend extra time with all four of her kids as they celebrated asnow day by shoveling their long driveway and jumping off the tree swing into the snow banks.
- Kris Bordessa spent the weekend at a fundraiser for the Hamakua Youth Center. While she loved the hula dancers and the fact that the Center came near to reaching their financial goal, the best part for her was watching her son jam the ‘ukulele with Hawaii recording artist Lorna Lim and Ed Yap.
- Delphine celebrated her first birthday as a mom. That was very geeky (she was asked to choose between an iPhone and an iPad as a birthday gift, finally getting both! Yay!) and very mommy (her son woke up on her birthday's morning with his very first temperature).
- Laura Grace Weldon attempts to link the French Revolution with parenting skills. Now if she could only only grasp the link between staying up till 2 a.m. and feeling tired the next day.
- Alisson got to know the six newly discovered exoplanets (planets outside our solar system) while writing a press release for the NASA/University of Florida partnership that found them. The Kepler mission, which searches for planets in other stars' habitable zones, keeps turning out piles of cool new data that you can keep up with on Facebook.
- Christina Montoya Fiedler started a new blog entitled Mama to the Rescue - a collection of rants from a stay at home mom. In other news, she is realizing that her son has outgrown most of his clothes in the process of one week, when someone commented on his nice capris. Too bad he's just flooding.
- Rebecca Angel is majorly bummed because she has a strange ear infection that doesn't diminish hearing, but warps the tonality. She had hoped to clear it up with doctor's help, but because of snowfall, all visits to the doctor are emergency only. Rebecca understands this is not a gunshot wound, but she now has to cancel a big concert and live recording for the new album that was supposed to take place this weekend. Hugs from geeklings has helped.
