Who would you rather watch playing Green Lantern this summer: Nathan Fillion or Ryan Reynolds?
Technically, you don’t have to choose. Firefly favorite Fillion was named Tuesday as the voice of space cop Hal Jordan in DC Comics and Warner Bros.’ forthcoming animated feature Green Lantern: Emerald Knights, arriving June 7 on DVD and download. That release sets the table for Reynolds’ super-suited turn in the live-action film Green Lantern, which bows 10 days later.
That cross-media double dose of one of DC Comics’ most notable superheroes should light up the summer quite nicely.
Reynolds has squeaked out comics-based roles from both DC and Marvel: He co-starred as Deadpool in X-Men Origins: Wolverine and scored the lead in what will probably turn out to be a live-action Green Lantern franchise.
Fillion’s geek cred cannot be touched at this stage, but Reynolds is quick on the pop-cult come-up, and should catch serious heat if Green Lantern pulls off an Iron Man -like haul this summer. (He’ll get even hotter if his dedicated Deadpool film comes together.) Let us know in the comments section below who you think more capably fills out Green Lantern’s uniform.
