Microsoft says it will eventually bring its camera-based motion controller Kinect to the PC platform.
Speaking with BBC News at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, CEO Steve Ballmer did not mince words when asked directly if the Xbox 360 interface device would eventually come to Windows.
"We'll support that in a formal way, in the right time," Ballmer said. "When we have an announcement to make, we'll make it."
Ballmer said in his keynote speech at CES on Wednesday that Microsoft has sold 8 million Kinects since its November launch. He said the company plans to add Kinect support to Netflix and Hulu Plus on Xbox 360 early this year.
"We certainly started out with Xbox, very focused on gaming," Ballmer told the BBC. "We're trying to do two major things. We're trying to move beyond gaming and include the world of socialization, TV, movies, music. And we're trying to make the whole experience accessible to everybody in the family, not just the traditional gamer."
