The story is influenced by Tim Powers’ historical fantasy novel, On Stranger Tides, which lent its voodoo themes to videogame The Secret of Monkey Island.
Johnny Depp reprises his role as drunken sailor Captain Jack Sparrow in the fourth installment in the fantasy/adventure film series, with Ian McShane (Deadwood‘s awesome Al Swearengen) playing Blackbeard. Rob Marshall (Nine, Chicago) directs.
