Google has summed up the turbulent year of 2010, from Justin Bieber to the Haitian Earthquake and from the iPad to the World Cup, by looking at the most searched out events, people and products.
You can see the data visualized in graphs and maps at Google's 2010 Zeitgeist page, or see the year's events in photos, news stories, YouTube clips and vuvuzela noises in the video above.
The fastest rising query, the word that people were fervently plonking in to Google's search bar, was random chat site Chatroulette. The unique site, which hooks up two random webcams for spontaneous video calls, saw the height of its Google-popularity peak in March, just as "Merton" released his 7 million viewed Chatroulette "Piano Improv" video to YouTube.
The iPad came second, peaking three times for its January announcement, its April release in America and its global rollout this May. Squeaky-voiced teen idol Justin Bieber and Trinidadian hip hop star Nicki Minaj followed up behind, along with Twitter, Facebook and Katy Perry farther down the list.
If Google searches are anything to go by, Apple won big in 2010 with the iPad and iPhone 4 winning out against Nokia, HTC and Blackberry devices on the fastest rising consumer electronics queries.
2009's fastest rising queries were Michael Jackson, Facebook, Twitter and Spain's top social network, Tuenti. You can also see which of last years trends fell fastest as the Earth spun on its axis. Fleeting memories like Susan Boyle, Swine Flu and torrent site Mininova plummeted in 2010.
