Alien invasion series Dark Skies only soared from 1996-1997 but long-time loyalists and late adopters can soon dig into an exhaustive DVD box set, which maxes out at six discs with hours of bonus content.
If you want to score one of 10 free copies of the Dark Skies DVD set that Wired.com is giving away this holiday season ahead of the collection's January 18 release, let us know in the comments section below: what separates Dark Skies from its more popular predecessor The X-Files? Was the series prematurely canceled?
One argument we'll make in the show's favor involves its guest-character roster stuffed with icons like Marilyn Monroe, Carl Sagan and The Beatles, any of whom could be aliens in disguise. Name another series that gave Happy Days' Ralph Malph, known to earthlings as actor Don Most, a chance to play LSD champ Timothy Leary.
The $45 Dark Skies box set features all 19 episodes chronicling the cross-country journey of a truth-seeking Congressional aide and his girlfriend (Eric Close and Megan Ward, above) in the 1960's as the duo tried to ferret out embedded aliens. The collection also includes the bonus features plus a commemorative booklet.
Contest ends 12:01 a.m. Pacific on Dec. 30, 2010.
