Pioneering spy-fi television series The Avengers injected the swinging '60s with sensuality and a certain sensibility that lives on in 21st-century shows.

From 1961 to 1969, The Avengers absorbed the decade's experimental spirit and distilled it into juicy romps led by snappily dressed secret agent John Steed (Patrick Macnee, above) and a series of knockout spy-fi sidekicks like the cat-suited Emma Peel (Diana Rigg, above) and Cathy Gale (Honor Blackman).

Titan Books' The Avengers: A Celebration helps ramp up the cult-errific British TV series for its 50th anniversary. The book, released earlier this month and shown off in the gallery above, kicks off with a foreword by Macnee and spreads out comfortably atop several gadget-stuffed bowler hats full of iconic, rare and previously unpublished photographs and shout-outs from the cast and crew.
