R2-D2 gets deconstructed by artist Kevin Tong in A Linch Pin Droid, a new art print that offers an exploded view of the intrepid 'bot.
"R2-D2 is my favorite character in the Star Wars Trilogy. I spent months watching and pausing [the original Trilogy] for this print," Tong said in a statement about the poster, the latest in Mondo's Star Wars tribute series. "I hope that by showing R2-D2's individual tools and components all spread out, people can reflect on the moments in the Trilogy where he used those devices to save the day and the galaxy."
In the behind-the-scenes video below, Tong goes deep into his creative process for the making of A Linch Pin Droid . The 24- by 36-inch screen print, limited to 400 copies, goes on sale Friday. If things go like they usually do, the limited run will sell out within minutes. Keeps your eyes pinned to the href="http://twitter.com/MondoNews">@MondoNews on Twitter for sale times, etc.
