The soundtrack for Christopher Nolan's cerebral sci-fi blockbuster Inception is a hypnotic affair, but watching it spin around on clear vinyl is a mind-wipe of another type.
The see-through vinyl pressing of Inception: Music From the Motion Picture is limited to 1,000 copies and retails for $22.
The record showcases the hybrid electronic, orchestral and guitar sonics of award-winning composer Hans Zimmer and guitarist Johnny Marr, the ax master mostly responsible for The Smiths' continuing musical influence.
For Inception, Zimmer was inspired by the atmospheric soundtracking of Ennio Morricone in classics like the The Good, The Bad and the Ugly.
Marr pored over Douglas Hofstadter's Lewis Carroll-like neurotheory classic Gödel, Escher, Bach: An Eternal Golden Braid for guidance.
The pair's successful sonic collaboration resulted in a jarring but clearly beautiful dream-noir soundtrack that helped seal the deal on Inception's critical and commercial success.
