GeekMom Visits World Maker Faire New York

Last weekend GeekMoms on the East Coast flocked to the New York Hall of Science in Queens for the first World Maker Faire New York. The event featured Maker Faire favorites like Arc Attack and EepyBird. There were also  lots of home-grown makers, crafters, scientists and artists, like Brooklyn-based audio artist Dan Perrone and yarn bomber Robyn Love of Queens. We climbed aboard the BioBus and marveled at the extreme swings and chariot race from the Madagascar Institute. A friend got a kick out of walking across the pit of Oobleck. There were interesting things to see and do everywhere you looked, and it was all ultra family-friendly. Yours truly even learned to solder in the Maker Shed, and ended up festooned with more flashing lights than a Christmas tree. Here’s a sampling of what we did and saw.
