Halo: Reach comes out Tuesday, but thousands of gamers are already playing the game.

Bungie Studios reassured players that it won't be punishing people who take the game online early. The friendly message comes from the company's official Twitter feed. " No," the note says, "you will not get banned for playing a legit copy of Reach online early."

Though retailers aren't supposed to sell the game until midnight Monday, there are legitimate ways to get your copy of Halo: Reach early. Some who preordered from web retailers are reporting that the game was delivered Monday.

Halo: Reach is the latest in a series of Xbox-exclusive shooters. It will be the last in the franchise developed by Bungie, which will move on to making games for Activision.
