Microsoft will launch mobile versions of hot game properties like Halo and Crackdown when it ships Windows Phone 7 later this year, the company said Tuesday.
At the Gamescom conference taking place this week in Cologne, Germany, the Xbox maker said it would bring Halo: Waypoint, the online information hub for fans of the company's smash-hit shooter series, to the new Xbox Live mobile phone gaming service. The company will also launch a mobile game called Crackdown 2: Project Sunburst, based on the console game, at the launch of Windows Phone 7 this fall.
Xbox Live for Windows Phone 7 is Microsoft's attempt to bring its fully integrated online gaming service to the mobile platform. Games released for the micro-size version of Live will have everything you'd expect from its big brother: free demos, Achievements and leaderboards.
More than 50 games will launch with the service, including titles in the Castlevania, Bejeweled and Assassin's Creed series. A full list is below.
