We posted about Star Wars: Uncut back in April, but in case you haven't heard about it yet, it's the brainchild of Casey Pugh, a former developer at Vimeo and Boxee, who wanted to create some new and fun experiences on the web, using crowdsourcing to generate the content from the users. He took the original Star Wars movie and cut it up into 15 second scenes, and then asked anyone and everyone to remake each scene in whatever style they liked — stop motion, live action, machinima, puppets, toys — basically, anything goes. Pizza slice as a Star Destroyer anyone?

Casey and his team have been hard at work editing and sticking-back-together hundreds of the crowd-sourced, fan-filmed, clips from Episode IV: A New Hope to recreate our most beloved of geek films in an entirely new way, and they've been nominated for an Interactive Emmy for their efforts.

They have a final cut ready, "but we are working through the legal issues in order to bring that to everyone as soon as possible". In the meantime, you can enjoy a clever streaming version that pulls in each 15 second clip as needed over on starwarsuncut.com.

There's also a version you can watch bit-by-bit with randomly chosen scenes and below is "The Escape", a 4 1/2 minute teaser from the final film.
