Square Enix revealed new screenshots of Dungeon Siege III on Wednesday.

Dungeon Siege was originally developed by Gas Powered Games (Demigod, Supreme Commander) as a PC-exclusive series of action role-playing games that played similarly to Blizzard's classic Diablo franchise.

Dungeon Siege III maintains the hack-and-slash gameplay of the originals, but the new game is being developed by Obsidian, creator of the recent espionage RPG Alpha Protocol as well as the upcoming Fallout: New Vegas. One advantage of the developer switch is that Obsidian has had a lot of experience in crafting videogame stories – its entire resume is nothing but RPGs.

Square Enix will publish Dungeon Siege III for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Windows PC in 2011.
