Konami Will Release Kojima's Next-Gen Castlevania in October

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow will hit stores October 5, Konami said on Thursday.

The Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 version of the classic series was created by Madrid, Spain developer Mercury Steam with creative input from Metal Gear Solid creator Kojima Productions. It’s something of a reboot — a fresh, slightly Western take on the story of the Belmont clan of vampire hunters.

Konami has had moderate success with the 2-D updates to Castlevania, but it has foundered when it has attempted to deliver 3-D action games in the same setting. The 3-D Castlevania games for the Nintendo 64 and PlayStation 2 were released to tepid critical and commercial reaction.
